Restore archived analyses and samples

You can restore the Ion Reporter Software analyses and samples that you have archived. If you restore data from Ion Reporter Software, you can keep or delete the archives.

This information applies only to Ion Reporter Server.

You can also restore individual samples or batches of samples that are archived with, or associated with, an analysis. For more information, see Restore archived samples from an external device to Ion Reporter Server.

To restore only samples, see Restore archived samples from an external device to Ion Reporter Server

  • The external storage device that contains archived analyses must be mounted to Ion Reporter Server.

  • If you have a new Ion Reporter Server or upgrade from a previous version, you need to specify a storage location for archiving analyses and samples in Ion Reporter Server.

  • You can only archive samples if no processes are active on the server. For example, if an analysis is running, or new sample uploads are in progress.

  • After the archive process starts, users cannot use the Ion Reporter Server until the archive process is complete.

  1. In the Admin tab, click Archives.
Archived analyses and samples are listed in the Archives screen.
  2. Select the analyses or samples that you want to restore, then click Restore.
  3. In the Restore Manager dialog box, indicate whether the archives should be retained on the server or deleted .
    • To delete the samples after the archival process is complete, select the option do you want to delete the data from path post archive?.
    • To keep the samples after the archival process is complete, deselect the option do you want to delete the data from path post archive?.
  4. Click Yes to begin the restoration.
The Archival Manager screen shows the progress of the restoration process.
  5. (Optional) To stop the archive process, click Abort.

To prevent a loss of data, if you archive multiple analysis you can only abort the archive process if none of the archival processes are complete. For example, if there are 3 archives that are in progress, and 2 archives are completed, but the third item is in progress, the abort does not occur.

After the restoration is complete, the restored analyses is listed in the Analyses screen and restored samples are listed in the Samples screen. The table shows the name, type, size, status. If any failures occur during the restoral process, any applicable error messages are shown for the restoration.
