Restore archived samples from an external device to Ion Reporter™ Server

This information applies only to Ion Reporter™ Server.

Note: Archived samples can be restored to an Ion Reporter™ Server that uses of the same version, or an earlier version of Ion Reporter™ Software from which the samples were archived.

  • The external storage device that contains archived samples must be mounted to your Ion Reporter™ Server.

  • If you have a new Ion Reporter™ Server or upgrade from a previous version, you must specify a storage location for archiving samples and analyses in Ion Reporter™ Server.

    IMPORTANT! Change archivalMountPath=/tmp/ to archivalMountPath=/storage IP address/ in the ionreportermanager/server/server.properties file, then restart the Tomcat server.

    To check the data that you archived, go to the storage location of the archived data, which is set up in the /share/apps/IR/ionreportermanager/server/server.properties file as archivalMountPath.

    If you have questions about the Tomcat server, contact your Field Support Engineer or Field Bioinformatics Support representative.

  • You can only archive samples if no processes are active on the server.

  • After the archive process starts, users cannot use the Ion Reporter™ Server until the archive process is complete.

IMPORTANT! Before you start this procedure, ensure that all users are signed off. Ion Reporter™ Server is not available to users during the restoration process.

  1. In the Admin tab, click Archives.
  2. Select the path to the directory on the mounted device from which the samples will be restored. You can enter text for the sample name in the Search box to narrow the list, and select Specimen as the archive type in the drop-down menu to view only archived samples.
  3. Click Restore to return the sample back to the Ion Reporter™ Server from which the samples will be restored.
  4. In the Restore Manager dialog box, do the following.
    1. Select the option to delete the data from the archival path post restore to delete the samples from the archive directory when the sample restoration is complete. Or, de-select the option to retain the samples on the external archive device.
    2. Click Yes to confirm that you want to restore the selected samples.
    If any processes are running on the server, you will receive a message that contains information about the number of processes that are in progress. Wait until the processes are completed before you proceed.
  5. (Optional) To stop the restore process, click Abort.

    To prevent a loss of data, if you restore multiple samples you can only abort the restore process if none of the restoration procesess are complete. For example, if three restorations are in progress and two restorations are complete but the third restoration remains in progress, the abort will not occur.

When the restoral process is successful, there is a message in the Confirm Batch Archive dialog box to indicate that the process is complete. The restored samples are listed in the Samples screen.
